Fuel Subsidy Should Be Removed

Opeyemi Agbaje, the chief executive officer of RTC Advisory Services Limited, stated that the time is ripe for the Federal Government to remove fuel subsidy.

Opeyemi Agbaje stated that fuel subsidy removal would release N1tn per annum for investment in people, alleviating poverty, unemployment and inequality.
He explained: “The economy is paying the cost of deregulated fuel  without getting the benefits of deregulation. Fuel subsidy is a middle class; consumption subsidy that is wasteful and prone to corruption. Nigeria needs to invest in the poor rather than middle class”.

On Monday, July 27, 2015 a police officer from the Okene division in Kogi state, shot a mechanic who was on his way to his workshop.

 

The victim was said to be on his way to work when the policeman beckoned on him to stop but he refused. As a result of his, the police officer allegedly fired three shots at him, hitting him on the leg and other parts of his body.

In defense, the police officer claimed that the mechanic made attempts to take his riffle from him but witnesses disclosed that, this was not true as the man was a little far from the police when he was shot.
However, the victim is reportedly in a critical condition and is presently receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja.

His name is Idoko Nicholas Inalegwu and he was a medical student of Benue State University, Makurdi. He died recently in an unexplained accident. His friends believe he committed suicide because he had fallen into heavy depression after receiving news of his withdrawal from medical school after spending 10 years.

Abia Police Rescue 14 Pregnant Girls From Baby Factory

The Abia state police command has rescued 14 pregnant girls and ladies after they raided an illegal maternity home.
